Orlando Attorney Sid Roman admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court

Washington, D.C. (March 22, 2017) - Orlando Personal Injury Attorney and Certified Mediator Sidney A. Roman was sworn in as a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court today. Mr. Roman was part of a group Florida attorneys who elected to be admitted together as alumni of Barry University Dwayne A. Andreas School of Law.

“I am honored to be able to argue matters on behalf of my clients in the highest court in the United States.” Mr. Roman said. “This will allow us to continue to provide outstanding legal representation to our clients no matter the circumstances.”

On Wednesday March 22, 2017, Mr. Roman and others in his group were greeted by Scott S. Harris, the Clerk of the Court, who explained how the process would take place before the group was ushered to the courtroom. The court was called to order and several rulings and dissenting opinions were read by the Justices before Chief Justice John G. Roberts called the Barry Law group. Barry alumnus William Voigt then presented a motion requesting admission to the US Supreme Court on behalf of Mr. Roman and his colleagues. After a sworn oath by the petitioners, Justice Roberts granted the motion for admittance to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.

Zarina Hernandez Selected as Recipient of the Sid Roman, P.A. Hispanic Law Student Scholarship

Orlando, Fla. (June 20, 2016) –  Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law announced Zarina Hernandez (’16) was selected as the recipient of the Sid Roman, P.A. Hispanic Law Student Scholarship – the school’s first alumni-sponsored scholarship.

The scholarship, which is awarded to a high achieving (3.0 or higher) Hispanic law student who is actively involved in the Hispanic American Law Student Association (HALSA) is in the amount of $2,550. Students who participate in Moot Court or Trial Team or who are pursuing or have completed Mediation Certification are given strong consideration for the scholarship.

Roman said that it was important for him to create the scholarship to continue his positive impact on the school and to give back to Barry Law and its students.

"I founded the Hispanic American Law Student Association (HALSA) at Barry with the objective of increasing the potential for success of the law careers of our Hispanic-American students by exposing them to opportunities within the professional legal community,” Roman said. “This scholarship is another way for me to continue to contribute toward the success of Hispanic-American students in the field of law.”

Hernandez was the business editor of the Barry Law Review and the president of HALSA. She said she found the involvement of the alumni with the current student body to be special.

“Throughout my time at Barry, the alumni have been open to helping us be successful students and future lawyers – Sid Roman is one of these alumni,” Hernandez said. “I understand he wants Barry to be a great school and for it to produce competent lawyers. I'm very grateful and proud to have received the Sid Roman Scholarship."
